Most significant technical changes over the production run

early Jagdpanther with Zimmerit coating

January 1944

  • Only the two prototypes had 5 pistol ports. They were dropped with the start of the production run. They have been replaced with the Nahverteidigungswaffe. But the first close-in defense weapon was installed in June 1944 because of supply difficulties
  • cheveroned cleats on the link faces

February 1944

  • Left driver vision block dropped. Hole welded up.
  • Towing coupling over inspection port at the rear, so the jack was now between the mufflers

May 1944

  • Two additional pipes next to the left exhaust pipe for additional cooling.
  • Two-parts 88mm Panzerjägerkanone (anti-tank gun) 43 / 3 to simplify the production. The one-piece barrels  were partially mounted until October 1944

June 1944

  • Screw coupling for the 2to jib boom („Pilze“)
  • Close-in defense weapon on all Jagdpanther

September 1944

  • Zimmerit coating dropped

October 1944

  • Reinforced collar for the embrasure with 4 countersunk screws above and below
  • Self cleaning idler wheels. The old, small ones are still mounted until February 1945
  • Only the two-parts 88mm Panzerjägerkanone 43 / 3 mounted

Novenber 1944

  • Smoke exhaust fan in the roof above the gun carriage

December 1944

  • The Jagdpanther took over the arrangement of the engine cover of the Panther Ausf . G, including the crew compartment heater
  • „Flammenvernichter“-exhaust muffler (flame eliminator)
  • Ammunition storage is changed in favor of more space for the radio equipment. Now, the vehicle could carry only 58 instead of 60 rounds

January/February 1945

  • Most tools now stowed at the rear

February 1945

  • Elimination of the third stowage box at the rear of the fighting compartment
  • Superstructure interior partially painted ivory again

March 1945

  • Dark green base coat

March/April 1945

  • Skid shoe instead of return roller at the final drive (only M.N.H.)
