At 09.00 am the last 2 transports of the Abteilung arrive in WARSAW EAST carrying the Pz.Werkstatt Zug and the Versorg.-Kompanie. At 19.50 hrs 20 wheeled vehicles depart WARSAW for SIEDLCE from the Pz.Werkstatt Zug, 6 more wheeled vehicles follow on at 20.00 hrs. 32 wheeled vehicles from the Versorg.-Kompanie leave WARSAW for SIEDLCE. Arrival and unloading of I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is completed. On the 26.7.44 1 Kp with 20 Panther is assembled and placed under the command of VIII. A.K., SS-Totenkopf requests their return by 02.45 hrs on the 27.7.44, VIII. A.K. issues 300 round of 7.5 cm KwK and 100,000 rounds of 7.92 belt ammunition. The Panther depart for LOSICE, during its time with VIII. A.K, 1 Kp is situated in the woods North West of MSZANNA, the Panther actually return to Divisional control at 01.50 hrs on the 27.7.44. While I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is under the command of SS-Hstuf. Riefkogel, he is given orders to free up the roads around MORDY. Riefkogel plans to use 3 Kp to advance along the road to MIEDZYREC, 2 Kp to advance North on BORKI and after that, North East to GOLICE. Elements of 4 Kp to attack South West towards SKOZEC, later XX. A.K. reports that all attacks have been repelled with strong Russian tank and anti-tank gun fire. The Abteilung returns to SIEDLCE during the early hours on the 27.7.44.


27.7.44 During the day the Abteilung remains inactive due to on going fuel shortages. A new allocation of fuel is promised during the afternoon. 1 Kp is used as the Divisional reserve, while the bulk of the Abteilung is moved into the area of MSZANNA.

28.7.44 During the afternoon Battlegroup Meierdress is formed with the Stabs.Kp and 1 Kp, along with 2 Kpn from III./SS-Pz.Gr.Rgt. 5 Totenkopf. Their task is to advance on MORDY. The Battle group has 23 Panther. At 13.00 hrs, the Battlegroup departs the East exit road of SIEDLCE, where it comes under heavy Russian artillery fire. The operation is too completed by midnight on the 29.7.44, but due to the combat situation the Battlegroup has to fight its way back to SIEDLCE during the early morning hours on the 29.7.44. During the afternoon of the 28.7.44, 8 Panther and 1 Panzer IV are fighting on the Eastern outskirts of SIEDLCE.

29.7.44 At around midday Russian Forces try to enter SIEDLCE, but the Panther and Panzer IV of SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 launch counter attacks. At 17.45 hrs, the first Russian tanks enter SIEDLCE, but are pushed back by elements of 2nd and 4th Kompanie.

During the day the Panther of I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 are engaged in street fighting with Russian tanks, as Russian Forces try to enter the town from the West and East. Later that night SIEDLCE is given up by 03.00 hrs on the 31.7.44. I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 withdraws to the North towards SOKOLOW.

From the 25.7.44 to the 30.7.44, I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 lost a total of 25 Panther and suffered around 110 casualties.

The Abteilungs Kompanien are placed in various locations, 1 Kp is near SUCHOZERBY.


1.8.44 1 Kp is attached to I./SS-Pz.Gr.Rgt. 5 Totenkopf
3.8.44 Between BANACHOWIZNA, east of NADBIEL the bulk of the Abteilung is assembled in readiness to counter attack the on going Russian attacks along the KOLNO-ZABRANIEC road. During the afternoon the Panther engage the Russian 50th Tank Brigade, in the area of RECZAJA-ZABRANIEC, other elements of the Panther Abteilung are engaged in the area of GORKI.
4.8.44 Late evening elements of I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 are in the area of KRUBKI-GORKI, a single Panther Kompanie is attached to a battle group from the 5 SS-Pz.Div. Wiking. Those elements in KRUBKI are later involved in action with elements of  the 4 Pz.Div in the area North East of GORKI and MALKOW.

10.8.44 Defensive actions as the Russians try to breech the front line of SS-T, between LUDWINOW-NATOLIN, I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 comes under heavy Russian artillery fire.

12.8.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 involved in defensive actions in the area of RADZYMIN and REMBERTOW.
14.8.44 Elements of I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 in REMBERTOW come under Russian artillery fire.
18.8.44 Elements in RADZYMIN and REMBERTOW moved into the area of WOLA-ROSZCZEP.
19.8.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 attacks a Russian anti-tank gun front in the area East of WOLA-ROSZCZEP, with 1 Komp. in the lead, the Russian anti-tank gun front is breeched and the Russians withdraw.
20.8.44 1 Kp in action in the wooded area of KRUSZE repelling Russian infantry attacks.
22.8.44 1 Kp still located in the wooded area near KRUSZE , later the Kompanie becomes involved in action near TROJANY and Hill 94.
23.8.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is spread over the following area, in the woods East of ZWIERZYNIEC and Hill 94. Later the Abteilung becomes involved in counter attacks near WOLA-RASTOWSKA.
26./27.8.44 The bulk of the Abteilung is in the area of RADZYMIN. 3 Panther are attached to 5 SS-Pz.Div. Wiking, they return on the 1.9.44.
29.8.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 near BENJAMINOW just to the South East, a Russian tank assembly is spotted in the woods near MORKRENOWE. Artillery fire from SS-Pz.Art.Rgt. 5 shells the tank assembly, later the Panther from I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 open fire as well. Later I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 withdraws to the East near BENJAMINOW.
1.9.44 During the day elements of I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 move into the area of NADMA and SLUPNO.
2.9.44 Panther from I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 provide support to a battle group from the 1 Hungarian Cavalry Division during an attack on NADMA.
6.9.44 1 Kp assembles near STRUGA and then sent as fast as possible to support the 5 SS-Pz.Div. Wiking near SEROCK. The Panther are placed North West of SEROCK and West of DEBINKI.
10.9.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is fighting defensive action near Hill 104. 1 Kp is sent to the 73 Inf.Div, the Kompanie returns 12.9.44.
11./14.9.44 The Abteilung sees intensive combat in the area of Hill 104; other elements see action in the area of ELSNEROW and WOLA-RADYMINSKA. On the 14.9.44 Hill 104 is given up.
16.9.44 Defensive actions East of ROZOPOLE.
18.9.44 Defensive actions in the area of ROZOPOLE, Hill 101 and Hill 103.

25.9.44 to 10.10.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 still in the sector of Hill 101 and ROZOPOLE. On the 10.10.44, I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is heavily engaged along the heights of Hill 101 and 103 while attached to SS-Pz.Gr.Rgt. 6 Eicke.

17.10.44 Elements of the Abteilung are engaged in defensive actions in the area of JOSEFOW.
22.10.44 The Abteilung is now situated in JABLONNA-LEGJONOWO.
1.11.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 based in JABLONNA-LEGJONOWO and SZYBALIN comes under heavy Russian artillery fire.
6.11.44 I./SS-Pz.Rgt. 3 is moved and assembled in the area of LOMNA-NIEMICKI and put into A.O.K. 9 reserve.
19.11.44 Near the Bug mouth, the Abteilung´s Werkstatt Zug carries out over due repairs. For the rest of November 1944, the time is spent quietly.
2.12.44 Move from LOMNA-NIEMICKI to the area of MODLIN. During December a lot of wounded personnel who have recovered return to the Abteilung. Again the Abteilung moves location, this time into the area of OKUNIN.
24.12.44 Orders issued for departure and rail transport to Hungary. Loading takes place in the railway station of Nasjelske near Modlin.

26.12.43 Arrival and unloading in RAAB (GYOR). The Panther are given a winter whitewash coating for use as camouflage
